Genius Hour 9
As we are nearing the end of the genius hour project. I used this week as a time to reflect and work on some of the final projects.
I began to think about my genius hour product and how I wanted to showcase my learning. This was the first challenge I ran into, as I didn't have the typical genius hour project. My learning couldnt conclude with one final tangible item. Rather my race was taking place after this project ended, so I had to find an alternative way to show all that I have done. I decided to create a powerpoint that would demonstrate a variety of learning that I have done over the past 12 weeks. This was formatted in a way to inform the reader of all the basics of half marathon training. Beginning with the various training methods I curated a list that would scribe to a variety of different runners. Additionally I also included a couple slides that described some of the race day nutrition. Finally, I concluded this powerpoint by providing a look into what my experience had been like over the past weeks and the various successes and challenges that I was met with.
In addition to the final product, I also created a ted talk describing my project. I was excited for this portion of the project as I have always loved watching ted talks throughout the years. I began by going back and rewatching some of my favorites, I took notes of how they formatted their talks to really engage the audience and drive home their final point. I began to form a script of the key points that I wanted to speak about. Although once I began recording I felt that reading off the script wasn't very natural and robbed the talk of a genuine feel. Therefore, I kept a list of the key points of what I wanted to talk about and just spoke from the heart and tried to give the talk a genuine feel. I was really proud of what the end product sounded like.
As we begin to conclude on this course, I am excited to reflect back on past experiences and see what I have really learned.
